This is Nikon's newest 85mm prime lens. It's designed to be a portrait lens, and it is an excellent performer for this application. It also performs well for any other application because of it's excellent corner-to-corner image sharpness, fast focusing, smooth bokeh, minimal distortion, and minimal CA. The AF-S motor means fast focusing and it can be used with all FX and DX bodies. There is some vignetting at large apertures, but this won't be an issue for most applications and you probably won't notice if you're using a DX camera. If you're looking for the top performing 85mm for a Nikon camera body, this is it!
