Canon makes 6 different 70-200mm lenses. This has the f/4 aperture AND image stabilization, and is the version one. It has the constant f/4 aperture over their entire zoom range, plus fast, quiet, and accurate auto-focusing benefiting from a responsive USM (Ultra-Sonic Motor). Itís an internal zoom lens, which means the physical length of the lens does not change throughout the zoom range because the the movement of glass elements occurs inside the barrel. The 8-blade aperture produces excellent out-of-focus background blur quality. This lens is easier to walk around with and feels less bulky than the f/2.8 IS version because itís only about half the weight. This is a good choice as a travel lens. If youíre shooting sports - especially indoors - you may need the wider f/2.8 aperture version of this lens for stop-action photos because the wider aperture will allow for a faster shutter speed. An f/2.8 aperture lets in twice as much light as an f/4.
