The Sigma 150-600mm 5-6.3 DG HSM OS Sports lens is a top quality telephoto zoom lens. You will be impressed when you pick it up. It looks and feels great in your hands. Both are fine lenses, but the Sigma sports lens is built to deliver a higher level of performance.
Here are some of the features that make the DG lens special. Two FLD glass elements (performance equal to fluorite) and three SLD glass elements enable it to produce incredibly sharp images through the entire zoom range. Chromatic aberration is controlled at the long end of the focal length through the optimized design of the glass elements and a dust and splash proof construction ensures a high degree of durability. It also has a new zoom lock switch that can be locked at any focal length, a manual override focus ring that lets you take control from the auto-focus, quiet AF, and water/oil repellent coating on front and rear elements. The updated optical stabilizer (OS) features an accelerometer for
improved panning photography both horizontally and vertically, which is
very useful for birding, wildlife, and motorsports photography. OS Mode 1 is suitable for general photography, and Mode 2 is ideal for panning shooting for motor sports etc. With Mode 2, the accelerator sensor works effectively to minimize blur in the horizontal direction only. The cool thing is it detects whether the camera is positioned vertically or horizontally, but still acts only the horizontal direction.
