The SB-900 speedlight has a guide number of 34/111.5 (ISO 100, m/ft), and is Nikon's replacement for the SB-800. It's Nikon's most powerful, most versatile, and feature rich flash in their line-up today. They've also made this one easier to use than previous units. It has a bit more power than the SB-600, but one of the biggest differences is the SB-900 has the Wireless Commander that can control other flashes; the SB-600 doesn't. If your camera body has a Wireless Commander built in, the SB-600 may be all you need. The SB-900  features i-TTL control and can be used with Nikon's Creative Lighting System (CLS). It operates as a stand-alone Speedlight or as a wireless remote unit. The Flash Value Lock (FV Lock) allows photographers to change the composition or zoom of the shot while maintaining the desired lighting of the subject.

Requires 4 AA alkaline batteries, not included.
