This is an extremely versatile lens. It has a wide aperture, a very usable zoom range, very effective image stabilization, and sharp images. This is a lens that a lot of people choose when they can only bring one lens along because it performs great indoors and out. The combination of the wide aperture and the image stabilization means you can often shoot in available light for photos that truly capture the mood. Caution: This is an EF-S lens so it only works on cropped-frame cameras.
