Canon makes 5 different 70-200mm lenses. This is the one with the big f/2.8 aperture but NO image stabilization. This is a good choice if you know you will be shooting outdoors in bright light and won't need image stabilization. It is less expensive than the IS version, the image quality is excellent, and it is slightly lighter in weight because it contains fewer lens elements. Overall, it is a fine lens.
