There's something about the 35mm angle that connects with the soul. So often, pictures taken with this lens stand out as great photos. Maybe this is why the 35mm prime continues to be used when a zoom lens seems like a more logical choice. Zooms let you frame pictures easily, but they also let you wander away from the 35mm perspective that can create magical connections deep inside of us. This is a lens to spend some time with, to wander around with, and to study. It’s an L series lens that feels and performs like a true professional lens. It feels solid and it handles well on the camera. The autofocus is fast and silent thanks to the Ring USM. The image is slightly soft at f/1.4, but acceptable, and it is very sharp by f/2.0. Slight vignetting will occur on full-frame cameras until stopped down f/2. Distortion is very minimal.
