The Nikon 24mm tilt-shift lens enables photographers to control depth of field and to correct image distortion, making it possible to take sophisticated pictures that cannot be shot using a conventional lens. Wide shifting range, can be tilted up to 8 degrees and shifted up to 11mm. Three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements offer superior sharpness and color correction by effectively minimizing chromatic aberration. Revolving capability of 90-degrees, in 30-degrees increments, for versatile tilt/shift shooting effects. The shift function moves the optical axis of the lens in parallel off the center of the imaging plane. A frequent usage of this feature is to eliminate the tapering effect of tall buildings. With conventional lenses, the vertical lines of the building converge towards the top of the photograph. By shifting the optical axis, the vertical lines remain parallel and vertical.
It definitely takes some practice to use this lens effectively, but the results are very satisfying and well worth the effort.
