This is a great value in an 85mm lens. It does a very good job for portraits, sports, or general photography. It’s also very good for indoor sports in high school gyms and ice rinks. The f/1.8 aperture is usually enough to deal with the fairly dim lighting (with the ISO set to at least 1600), and its fast focusing ability keeps up with the action. It's small, light weight, and easy to walk around with. Another nice feature that makes this lens very practical is the front lens group does not rotate during focusing so filters are not affected.
